0:00Hi guys, we're in the tomato greenhouse here at Bountiful Blessings Farm and I'm with my dad, John. We're going to be demonstrating the Clipper trellising system. Now, this is one of the more
0:09expensive ways to trellis, but by a lot of accounts, it's going to be the best and easiest way all around. You don't
0:17have uh twine and plastic clips that you have to try to get out of the plants towards the end of the season when you're tearing out your greenhouse. Um
0:26the process for lowering lean is just real simple and easy. We're going to show that process now. So, first of all,
0:32when you're going to purchase the clipper, you need to get the right length of hooks. They It comes in a lot
0:38of different lengths, and you want this to be kind of at a comfortable, you want the base of the clip up to, you know, 18
0:47or 24 in uh to be kind of at a com comfortable working height. So, I feel like for me, these might even be a little bit too high. Um, you don't want
0:55to have to reach up over your head too high generally. Um, but I would say, you know, mid chest up to about top of your
1:03head height is kind of where you want to be working. Um, you have the the clip that goes on your trellising cable and
1:12or the hook, I guess, is what it's called, that goes on the trellising cable and then you have the clips. These are a stainless steel clip with a foam insert and you wrap that around the vine and then clip it to the the hook.
1:24So before the plants get up to the base of the hook, you have to use a piece of twine tied onto the end here. And then
1:32you can trellis the plant to the twine with the same hooks. Just go around the the vine and then clip it onto the
1:40twine. So it's a simple system and it works great. Dad, do you want to demonstrate the process so people can
1:47kind of see how it works when you're trellising? So, there's just a few steps. You know, first off, you're taking off the suckers,
1:58which hopefully you know what suckers are, but you have your leaf and your main stem, and then the suckers come out
2:05at an angle here. And basically, the way you tell a sucker is it has its own growing tip. So, you only want one
2:14growing tip on the plant. So, those come off and then you take the bottom clip off.
2:22And then slide the next clip down to the nub at the bottom.
2:29And then put this clip back on up here somewhere. So you're just lowering the plant down, leaprogging the bottom clip
2:38up to the top of the plant, and then uh leaning it, sliding the the hook down the cable a little ways. And since this
2:46is the last plant on the row here, we're actually going to come around
2:52and bring it over here to the the cable on the other side cuz
3:01these plants can get 20 ft long or more during the growing season, right? Oh, yeah.
3:06So, you're you're lowering it cuz you want to keep that fruing and working area in a comfortable position. Um, but the vines are so long that you have to
3:14run them across the top of the wickets and then at the end of the row wrap them around. So, here we just have what a a tost on the inside, right?
3:22And then just like what a 3-in uh PVC 3 or 4 in um something just to kind of give them a gentle transition around.
3:32So, this clipper system is a great way to trellis tomatoes, cucumbers, um any any greenhouse crops that you want to trellis. So if you want to learn more

Struggling with messy twine and clips in your greenhouse? Jonathan and John showcase the Qlipr Trellising System, a game-changer for managing tomatoes and other vining crops with ease. With 27 years of farming expertise, they demonstrate how this system simplifies trellising and cleanup, saving time and effort.
Here’s what you’ll uncover in this video:
— Choosing the perfect hook length for ergonomic work height.
— Lowering and leaning long vines for comfortable fruit access.
— Wrapping vines around rows using T-posts with PVC.
— Reducing end-of-season cleanup hassles with reusable clips.
