0:10so my name is Dan Goldstein my farm it's

0:15name is the garden of a ton the farm is

0:18near Jerusalem Israel it's about quarter

0:24an acre of organic vegetables I started

0:32playing with vegetables and plants and

0:36garden about five or six years ago it

0:39was just magical for me I just knew from

0:43the first plant that I planted in soil

0:46that I want to grow food and I want to

0:48live off food really nutritious and

0:50organic food and I started my farm the

0:57farm where it is today it's in the place

1:00where I grew up

1:01kibbutz native Alameda Israel like about

1:0515 years ago it was still a cowshed it

1:08was a dairy farming place we felt that

1:11maybe I can start from here

1:16the most difficult job in order to get

1:20this farm going was to bring the soil

1:22because this found just didn't have any

1:24soil we had to build it with a lot of

1:27compost you can see from year to year

1:30the vegetables that I plant are growing

1:33better it's a long process and I'm still

1:37in the middle of it so Israel is a

1:43pretty warm place we have a lot of

1:46desert winds it's like seven months of

1:50eight months that we need to use shade

1:52cloth we use overhead irrigation in

1:54order to cool the vegetables

1:56we also have a lot of tests because they

2:00don't die in the winter time it's a

2:03pretty challenging climate here in

2:07Israel it's very common to have these

2:09kinds of trays which are 442 cells they

2:14grow very quickly they are ready to be

2:17planted around 10 or 12 days from

2:21sitting

2:24it took me some time to figure out what

2:26are the best crops for me to grow here I

2:28knew that I that I needed to get the the

2:32produce very quick if I figured out that

2:35I should do greens mostly i do i do baby

2:39lettuce because people really love it

2:41when I got the greens harvester was a

2:44game-changer it helped me to do some of

2:48the harvest a lot more quicker it made

2:50my life easier yeah and also when I

2:52found out that I can do it for

2:54microgreens it was amazing for

2:56microgreens

2:57it's like 100 percent perfect

3:08I really don't think that I could have

3:11done it without my parents they'll both

3:13were very very important for me in that

3:16process I didn't have any experience at

3:20at farming and I just thought that I

3:23could come and plant stuff and just

3:26harvest it and it will be easy but when

3:28you get to the specifics you just see

3:31that you have to be efficient the time

3:34is really the the most important thing

3:37that you add as a farmer I love being in

3:41the nature but still it's like human in

3:44nature come together in a great way and

3:46the people that the customers that

3:48enjoying my work and my produce are

3:52really important to me the idea of being

3:57a farmer it's amazing but it's very

4:01challenging and just keep going
