1:03we were we decided we wanted something a bit more for the future that we could get more lucrative so we just said okay

1:11we'll take a year and we'll go look for a new piece of land and we put a word out on Facebook and got actually quite a

1:21lot of response we visited all the places and we decided we wanted to come here to North Bergen it's from the last

1:29wooden shoe making family in Friesland six six Generation X Generation they

1:35have a wooden shoe museum as well with the whole thing they also designed a garden and like a managed part of the

1:44plan you know it matches the old thing with the wooden shoes so it it all comes very nicely together we're very happy

1:52with this place it's very good very good spot yeah

1:59when I got pregnant we started talking a lot about okay what's the kind of life we want and then

2:07built back from that so it was important to Xhosa to see these children grow up to be to

2:14be there not just be working all the time no we're not against hard work but I think you should work smart and I think that's the that's a good thing

2:22about the small scale farming that it because of all the tools and things you can work smart we built a small farm

2:30just a lot of greens and a lot of small beets and spring onions and that kind of stuff and we specifically designed the

2:38farm to grow these crops so the green harvester was just part of the design of the farm you know like the bubbler and

2:45the Gold Room the other vegetables make make it complete but without the salad

2:53greens we wouldn't have an income

3:03I do the finance and I do social media and just everything around so a host I can just focus on the farming we both do

3:12what we're good at absolutely and I can do a lot of those things from home if I was hired to do to just pick tomatoes somewhere or

3:20something that's just too much tomato picking you know but just the variety to do all those kind of things are sowing

3:28and harvesting and washing and drying and everything that's just what makes it

3:35fun this is our second year of farming and next year we're gonna introduce the CSA with the vegetable box and then

3:44we're gonna expand the garden but for now it's it's nice to have it this small you don't have a to-do list of 500

3:51things and you can only do five we see in our income that it has doubled if you see the first year and the second year

4:00it has already doubled first week this year was like more than twice as good as the best week from the previous year so we're like okay we're not worried

4:08anymore we're just used to the new figures

4:16it's nice because our daughter she's very excited about those vegetables and she sees them and she goes in the in the

4:22supermarket it's like oh this is from dad's farm or no yeah yeah yeah she's very excited about Tomatoes doesn't

4:38farm in the first year and also this

4:47year you're gonna make so much mistakes but they are actually not mistakes we call them unexpected learning

5:02wants it and it's like oh man now what so it's just you learned so much you

5:08learn so much just by doing don't be afraid to invest because with the right

5:15tools it just makes the word the work so much easier
